Ella Watson, aka ‘Cattle Kate’, circa 1880s. Watson. a homesteader, was falsely accused along with her husband, of cattle rustling and lynched by neighboring ranchers in 1889. Their bodies were left hanging for two days and the event precipitated the Johnson County War . [960 x 1187]
