In the late 1800s, American and Swedish Christians moved to Jerusalem awaiting the Second Coming—but instead, they picked up cameras. Their photos of Bedouin life and Jerusalem streets became one of the most remarkable visual records of the Middle East in transition. It’s a huge archive. (1080×1278)
