Child laborers hard at work on a factory forge during the 2nd French Empire, 1865. Based on contemporaneous labor laws, these children could legally have been working up to 8 hours a day as young as 8 years old & up to 12 hours a day if they were 12-16. Many factories ignored these laws (1500×1074)
